Volume of rectangular prisms in cm³ and m³, mL and L
$5.00
This unit starts at a lemonade stall and ends with students building a cubic metre. In between they sort out volume and capacity, read jug scales, write capacities like 375 mL as 0.375 L, and find the volume of rectangular prisms by counting layers of cubes.
Three to four lessons of 45–60 minutes. Begin with the lemonade recipe card. Students sort units (Leo thinks a bucket holds 10 mL), read Jugs A to D for the lemonade savings task and use a place-value chart for decimal capacities. The chart is there because students will tell you 2 L 40 mL is 2.4 L.
