50 editable slides and a 15-page booklet to name, estimate, measure and draw angles
$5.00
Help Year 5 and Year 6 students name angles, choose the correct protractor scale and explain whether a measurement makes sense. This angles lesson pack combines explicit teaching, printable practice and a detective challenge, with worked answers ready for the teacher.
Students identify acute, right, obtuse, straight and reflex angles and a full revolution. They estimate using 90° and 180° benchmarks before measuring, then construct angles with a ruler and protractor. Six teacher-slide questions model reading the two scales, including a question where neither arm starts at zero.

The booklet includes naming and estimating angles, angles in everyday objects, reading a protractor, estimating and measuring, drawing angles, and finding unknown angles on a straight line, in a right angle and at a point.
In The Case of the Mixed-up Protractor, students use clues to find Leo’s incorrect measurements and explain which scale he should have read. A skate park plan gives the angle work a practical context.
50 editable teacher slides, a matching teacher PDF and a 15-page A4 booklet. Both the colour and black & white booklets come as PDFs and editable PowerPoints. Teacher notes, worked answers, instructions and fonts are included.
The pack offers Getting started, On track and Challenge options. The main angle measurement work supports NSW Stage 3 MA3-GM-03. The vertically opposite angles section is clearly marked Extension (Stage 4) so you can choose whether to use it.
Open the .pptx files in PowerPoint or import them into Google Slides. The clickable menu and answer links work in presentation mode. Print student worksheets at A4 actual size when students will measure the diagrams.
For the next geometry lesson, explore classifying and measuring triangles or translation, reflection and rotation.
